RESEARCH STAGE

Understand Students' Perspective

We've chosen to speak to 15+ stakeholders including:
1 Orientation Organizer, 2 Orentation Leader, 3 instructors, 9 Students from different mjors

Insight 1: Timing & Adaptivity

Students struggle to filter useful info in real time. They need guidance at the right moment, not all at once.

“Students prefer to pay attention to the information and events that happen immediately.”

“Students prefer to get information gradually.”

“Some students didn’t notice the orientation site until the weeknd before the live session.”

Insight 2: Information Access & Clarity

Orientation materials were scattered or unclear. Students weren’t sure where to find info,
or how to prioritize it.

"Students don’t know where to ask for information.””

“Students will not read through every piece of information on the site, so illustration needs to be useful and clear.”

“Students are confused about the schedule.”

Insight 3: Redundancy & Misunderstanding

Repeating forms and mixed requirements led to frustration and confusion
—especially for international students.

"Students are repeating their actions (e.g. submit forms).”

Domestic students confuse their requirements with international students.”

“Students felt lost, frustrated, and confused by navigation/wayfinding.”
